Psychology of Religion
Does Religion Make us Good?
The consequences that religion has on our moral behavior have long been a matter of debate. In recent years, research from psychology and neighboring social sciences has brought much needed empirical evidence to the conversation. These findings not only reveal when and how religion impacts our pro- and anti-social behavior, but also help us understand why. In this session, Azim F. Shariff will review the current state of this research, while also discussing how these findings may help to explain the origins of religions and how they have come to look the way they do today.
